Dear Families,

We are very excited to welcome all of our families back for the start of the new school year. I would like to thank our hardworking teachers, admin staff, teacher assistants and school attendants who have been in at school over the holidays making sure everything was ready for a great start to the school year.

Welcome to new staff and families

I would like to extend a warm welcome to those students, families and staff who are new to our school. We welcome Mrs Jodie Donovan as our kinder/prep teacher and Ms Tanya Kean as our 1/2 teacher. Natalie H and Luke will be joining us as teacher assistants. We would also like to welcome Miss Lewis and Miss McShane who are university students working alongside Ms Daly and Ms Scott.

Whole school excursion to Blue Lagoon

We have a whole school excursion (including kinders) to Blue Lagoon at Dodges Ferry on Friday 27^th March. This day will be the final day of the grade six camp and our grade six students will have the opportunity to put their newly acquired leadership skills into practice. Students will be participating in a range of team-building activities and challenges as well as having a fun day out as a whole school. We may be visiting the beach if weather permits. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to better get to know their classmates and their teacher.

Assemblies

This year we will be having assemblies every Monday afternoon at 2pm. These assemblies will be used to reinforce our current social skills topic. There is a roster included in this newsletter advising when each class will be sharing items. We will also present class awards, significant milestone home reading awards and musical items as the year progresses. We welcome families and friends to come along to these assemblies.

Termly Overviews for families

Last year we trialled sending home a ‘termly overview’ so that families knew what was happening in their child’s class in the coming term. We had so much positive feedback from families who really appreciated the ideas about how to support their children at home as well as knowing what events and excursions were coming up during the term. We have also added the ‘3 for me’ dates so that families can be organised ahead of time (we will still send invitations closer to the time). Hopefully you have already received your term one edition!

We are looking forward to working closely with you all to ensure the best possible opportunities and outcomes for our students.
